Premium thickened polyester resin fills, fairs, and feathers to perfection, so repairs blend easily into surrounding surfaces. This high-viscosity polyester marine filler is easy to mix with the included MEKP catalyst to achieve a smooth, creamy paste that spreads easily, feathers well, and sets up quickly, without sagging. In as little as 30 minutes, it cures to a hard material with optimal strength and easy sanding ability. It’s easy to maintain a feathered edge while sanding thick or thin areas, so with very little effort (and very few sandpaper change-outs) you get a perfectly smooth, pinhole-free surface that’s ready for paint or gelcoat. This lightweight cosmetic filler also has minimal shrinkage and less odor than traditional polyester fairing compounds. In addition, you can tint Polyester Fairing Compound with polyester resin-safe colorants for a closer match with existing gelcoat. Polyester Fairing Compound has many uses including composite tooling and repair applications, but is designed for use as a fairing material only. For high-strength repairs to fix deep gouges, cracks, dings, dents, and small holes, use TotalBoat Polyester Structural Repair Putty first, allow to cure, then apply TotalBoat Polyester Fairing Compound. If used below the waterline, Polyester Fairing Compound must be overcoated with an epoxy barrier coat primer.
